A Year in Review – 2017

This week I’ve been setting new goals and writing out a schedule of new blog posts for the next coming weeks and I can’t help but think about all of the amazing things that have happened over the past year.

2017 brought about so many changes in my life and I could not have imagined I’d be where I am today.

  • We purchased a house in December of 2016 and rang in the new year in our new home.
  • We spent the first few months planning our wedding and making so many fun memories.
  • I met my favorite person on this planet- Tim Tebow.
  • We had our joint bridal shower.
  • We celebrated our bachelor/bachelorette parties
  • We got MARRIED
  • We honeymooned in Cancun – see my review here
  • We watched several friends get married! and spent a lot of time in the sun
  • We went to Disney (Andy’s first time)
  • I started my blogging journey
  • AND These were our first holidays as husband and wife and we were so happy to start new traditions together!

In 2017 I learned a few lessons also.

I started this blog because I wanted to have a creative outlet to share all the things I love. I’ve always loved fashion, running, cooking, trying new things and writing. I admire so many influencers on instagram and I decided to put myself out there. I wanted it to happen immediately but I’ve been patient trying to piece together a website and blog I can be proud of.

Starting this blog has taught me that not everyone is going to like me and that is OKAY. People I thought were my friends were unsupportive. “Friends” who make fun of you for putting yourself out there are not your friends. For the first several weeks I was so nervous to make a post or to “share” links on Facebook or to even mention my blog in general. I have slowly learned that its okay if you do not like the outfit I post or the blog I share. There is no place in my life for negativity and I have to be myself!! 2017 taught me to surround myself with all the things and people who make me happy and Since October I have done just that.

2018 is so full of opportunity and I’m so excited to see what it brings!

Christmas Party/New Years outfit

Happy Wednesday! One of my favorite parts of the holidays are all of the parties and celebrations. The energy and excitement are so contagious that you cannot help but feel happy. There is always good food, good music, and good company!

This year we attended my husband’s work Christmas party which is easily the most extravagant event I’ve ever attended. Last year, I wore a short dress and felt under dressed so this year I decided to look for something a bit more fancy. I got so many compliments on this jumper! At least 5 before we even got into the actual party.

Velvet has been such a huge trend this year and I scored this jumper for less than $20. Yes, you read that correctly. LESS THAN $20!!! You will most likely see it re-worn on New Years Eve! 🙂

I’ve always been a huge sale shopper. However, I believe in investment pieces and will spend money on Items I know I can wear multiple times. When I make purchases on clothing I always think to myself, “How often will I ACTUALLY wear this?” I like to find my price per wear value. If I find a winter coat for $150 and I know I’ll wear it at least 15 times I’m much more likely to purchase it. With trend items that I know I wont wear the following year, I don’t usually spend very much on them. Velvet is a huge trend right now and it may not be next year, so I wasn’t willing to spend very much on this jumper. When I saw the $16.99 price tag, I was sold.

With New Years coming, I would encourage you all to check your local TJ Maxx for a similar option. However, I’ve linked options I’ve found. I love these and would buy them if I needed another option! These are all dressier options for any events or going out this New Years!

boohoo Boutique Hannah Sequin 3⁄4 Sleeve Shift Dress • boohoo • $41

Another great option is this listing on Poshmark! A total steal!

Easy Fajita Bowls

One of mine and Andy’s favorite meals to make for dinner is crock pot chicken fajitas. Several years ago when and Andy and I first moved in together, I would scour Pinterest looking for Recipes that I could learn to cook for us. Many failed attempts later, I was able to find a few good ones. Crock pot chicken fajitas became a favorite in our home and since its so simple to throw together before work, we make it quite often! It never gets old.

To start, these are the ingredients. You just need a pack of boneless skin-less chicken breast, Fajita Seasoning mix, and onions and peppers. You need a pack of seasoning per pound of chicken. I am lazy so I usually purchase the Birds eye Fajita Vegetable mix.

This recipe is so simple, all you do is dump all of the ingredients in your crock pot and set it on low for 7 hours. Our crock pot has a setting that allows for it to automatically switch to warm after completing the set time.

When I get home I shred the chicken and VOILA! The easiest dinner you may ever make besides tacos.

This chicken can be added to Fajita bowls, salads, casseroles or just wraps for tacos.

Let me know what you all think if you decide to make it!

Comfortable style

Good morning and happy Friday! I recently purchased the softest tunic ever and I’ve been living in it. If you know me and have been following along for the past few months you know that I love Kohls. I usually wait to purchase items until they are running a 30% off sale.

This particular tunic was on sale for $19.99 and 30% off making it just $13.99. It is SO soft! I am 5’2″ and wearing a size small for sizing reference.

This is the perfect light weight sweater for South Carolina Winter and will easily transition into spring!
