Time is seriously flying, I know everyone says that but it’s so true. I want to remember everything about this pregnancy and its been really fun to share it all on here!

Andy finally felt baby kicks for the first time on 9/18. I’d been feeling them since week 16 (8/29) so it was really exciting to finally be able to share that with him.

I thought it might be fun to do a Q&A of the most frequently asked questions from pregnancy so far. So here it goes

(some of these were duplicates or worded differently so I combined or they are answered above)

How long did it take you to conceive?

I’ve mentioned this before but it took about 8 months. It was a long journey although I know for others it has taken so much longer. Once we decided we wanted a baby we both wanted it to happen yesterday and when it wasn’t happening month after month it was definitely very hard emotionally. We suffered a loss two months prior to getting pregnant this time around and It broke my heart. Maybe one day I will go into more detail on this but for now I’ll just say this: If you’re trying for a baby and you’re wondering to yourself- “why is this happening” and “is something wrong with me?” Just know that you are not alone! So many women are asking themselves the same things. Just try to stay positive and rely heavily on your faith and your support system.

What have you been using for stretch marks?

All of my research has told me that stretch marks are hereditary. However, I’ve been doing whatever I can to keep them to a minimum. I started using cocoa butter lotion around week 6 and have since switched to BIO oil. I use it in the morning and at night before bed. I like it!
I also think it’s really important to drink a lot of water. Prior to pregnancy I always drank a lot of water anyway but now I make sure I drink at least 100 ounces of water a day. It hasn’t been super difficult because I’ve been SO thirsty.

When did you start feeling like you had a real bump instead of bloat?

I noticed changes pretty quickly. But by week 13 I could feel my uterus in my lower stomach. I don’t know how to explain it but it felt like a rounded ball in my tummy. I still have people ask me where my baby bump is but I don’t wear a lot of fitted tops. I think It started to look more like a baby bump and less like I ate one too many Rush’s cheese burgers by week 16. But HEY maybe I did eat one too many cheeseburgers HA!!

Second Trimester Symptoms?

The second trimester has been so much better than the first. I was fortunate in that my morning sickness wasn’t like my sisters or a lot of women I know. I was nauseous sometimes all day long and I didn’t have an appetite. I actually lost several pounds because of feeling sick and not being able to eat. Most of this went away for me by the second trimester. I started feeling more normal around week 16. My headaches started to be significantly less frequent by week 18. I feel pretty good today (19 weeks typing this) but there are still smells that bother me with no rhyme or reason and I ate a banana recently and spent the next 3 hours of my day in a ball miserable.

The most annoying symptoms are yeast infections (ya I can’t even believe I’m sharing this but i had no clue that was common until my good friend Google let me know so I’ll be the one to share that) and round ligament pain which can feel like something bad is happening but really its just your insides stretching to make room for your new cantaloupe sized uterus and baby.

How different do you feel?

I got this question via Instagram and I liked it because holy moly.. How different do I feel? I have two heartbeats inside of my body. Sometimes I think about that and get tears in my eyes. The love I feel when I feel a kick is equivalent to how I felt walking down the aisle to Andy on our wedding day. It’s SO scary and my body is no longer mine and It’s so weird that every day feels different. The other day, I caught myself holding my breath tying my shoes and I immediately wondered how long that’s been going on? Was that the first time that’s happened? Literally every day is something new and its all so exciting and at the same time terrifying but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m growing our son. (my new favorite thing to remind Andy haha) and I feel so incredibly excited for the future!

I did get some questions on pregnancy must have items and if I’ve registered. I will be posting my long over due First trimester must have list this week. We plan to register this weekend, what do you all suggest? Let me know below 🙂

We are having a BOY!

The secret is finally out! We are having a BOY!!!!

Processed with VSCO with al3 preset

I’ve dreamt of being a mom since I was a little girl. I’d always wanted a daughter but the second I found out I was pregnant I was overwhelmed with the feeling that it was a boy. For several weeks after I looked for every reason for it to be a girl. Any wives tales, any little sayings, anything. Andy was convinced we were having a girl and I quickly began thinking the same. I was actually a little worried that I might be disappointed as silly as that sounds (but I personally think that’s totally normal) because I’d imagined bows and tutus and my own personal dress up doll. When we got in the room the Ultrasound tech asked what we both thought and when we both said girl she paused and said “well… these are boy parts right here” and motioned with her mouse. I was instantly filled with pure JOY.

Actually, typing this I can’t remember why I ever thought I’d be disappointed. There’s something about knowing that he is a HE that made being pregnant feel more real. We weren’t just having a baby and it didn’t feel like a mystery anymore. I am pregnant with our SON!! I already feel like I know him a little better and I cannot wait to his sweet little face.

Since finding out, The place we went for our early ultrasound has new ownership. But There are still several places here in Columbia, SC. Including the place we went. I’ll list them here:

Details on our Reveal

First of all, I’m so thankful for my sisters because they were so helpful. Especially my older sister Melissa who made our cake and helped to make sure everything was perfect!

I didn’t have a theme and most of my decorations were from the dollar store or Walmart however I did want to share a few details. Also I always look for a good inspiration photo when I am decorating so feel free to pin these on your pinterest!

Confetti Cannon: Buy it here.
We ordered confetti cannons through Poof There it is on Etsy. They had several options and were biodegradable so if any pieces blew away in the wind it was okay. (pro tip: tell your nieces and nephews whoever picks up the most confetti gets a prize… our yard was spotless!)

Signs: Made by me. My Cricut is my favorite. I have an older model, I’ve linked a new model!

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words!

Please feel free to leave us any questions below! I cannot wait to be a boy mom!!!
