Updated Makeup Routine

HI guys and Happy Thursday!

I’ve recently been getting a lot of questions about my makeup routine and while I’m no makeup artist, these are all products I love and use almost daily. I do switch up my routine from time to time so this is what I’m doing currently.

Step 1 – I prep my skin. I use Tula moisturizer. I use this at night after I wash my face as well as in the morning after I shower. Its super hydrating and It feels really good on my skin. I usually put this on and will fix my hair after to give it some time to sink in my skin before I apply makeup. I also apply Dr Brandt No more baggage eye cream which helps with puffiness and makes you look instantly refreshed!

Step 2 – Tarte Shape Tape Concealer on any Blemish I have. I have a very light shade for highlighting under my eyes so I will use this on my blemishes prior to foundation so that the foundation will appear smooth and also, It helps so I don’t have to purchase two separate concealers.

Step 3 – I currently use Este Lauder Double wear foundation. Its full coverage and it stays all day. I was using Maybelline stay matte foundation (which I still use occasionally) but my skin was getting really oily in my T zone mid day and It wasn’t lasting as long as I’d like. Double wear stays all day/night long and doesn’t budge. I know everyone loves beauty blenders, but I use a brush for my foundation. I think it helps me spread it a little more easily.

Step 4 – I apply Tarte shape tape concealer under my eyes and anywhere else I want to highlight. This is where I use a beauty Blender. I blend out my concealer and usually dab the rest of my face to make sure everything looks smooth.

Step 5 – I apply translucent powder to set my face. I used Rimmel London Stay matte powder. Its $3 at target and I love it. I use a fluffy real techniques brush all over my face.

Step 6 – Time to contour/bronze! I use my Anastasia powder contour palette I will blend two of the lighter bronzer colors together on a brush and lightly contour/bronze my face. For every day I just use a bit of color. If I’m going somewhere special, I’ll add some of the darkest color into the hollow of my cheeks to create more dimension.

Step 7 – Blush- I love blush sometimes I just use blush and mascara if I’m running to the grocery store and I don’t have time to do much else. I have several I interchange but lately I’ve been reaching for my favorite Milani blush

Step 8 – Eyebrows! I use milani dip brow. Its a dupe for Anastasia dip brow. Its super easy to use. Then I use Maybelline clear mascara as a gel to hold them in place. HOWEVER, I recently purchased the maybelline eyebrow

Step 9 – Morphe Jaclyn Hill Pallete is what I use daily. I rarely stray. Its my favorite.

Step 10 – Eyeliner and Mascara! I only wear eyeliner occasionally lately. I have Stilla Black eyeliner which I love – so easy to use. I also use the elf liquid eyeliner that’s $2 but I use stilla more. My holy grail mascara is loreal voluminous carbon black. I often try others because I get a lot in my Ipsy bag and Its still my number 1. It cosmetics is a close second with their Superhero mascara.

Step 11 – Last step- Highlighter and lipstick. I use Becca Champagne Pop. My every day Lipstick depends on the day but my 3 favorites are Maybelline stay matte Lipstick, Millani Lipstick, or Nyx satin Lip butter.

and VOILA! That’s it.

Top 10 Must have Drug Store Products

IMG_4645

I’ve always loved makeup. When I was finally allowed to start wearing it and buying my own products, I would spend hours watching YouTube videos on how to apply foundation and what products worked best. (Okay, I still do that! I love Jaclyn Hill! But anyways..) Besides getting the occasional birthday or Christmas present, it wasn’t until after college that I was table to even think about purchasing anything from sephora. Because of this I spent a lot of time in the makeup aisles at the drug store and as it turns out, I found a handful of products that I truly love. I prefer some of these products over some of the higher end items I’ve tried. I decided to share my list, because you CAN get a perfect makeup look without spending hundreds.  (These are in no particular order!)

1. L’oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

My all time go to mascara. This is my holy grail. I’m constantly getting compliments on my lashes. This mascara, and a little black eye liner will have people mistaking you for wearing falsies! Falsies without the mess and the stress.

2. Milani Lip Stick – any color

I LOVE Milani. I used to only be able to find it at the CVS near my house on a teeny tiny little end cap. Thankfully, Target had my back (like always) and started carrying their line. These lipsticks go on smooth, smell nice and they feel good too. They have a variety of shades and they are SO affordable. Doesn’t get much better than 4.99 lipstick. My favorite shade at the moment is Teddy Bare.

3. Milani Stay Put Brow Color

Like I said, I LOVE Milani. This is a total Anastasia Brow Pomade dupe. The package comes with a brush/spoolie combo to apply the product. A little bit goes a long way and this little jar lasts me months. Not to mention its under $10.

4. Maybelline Fit Me – Matte – Foundation

This foundation works really well for Me. My sisters use it too. It blends really well and has a good amount of coverage. I get really oily in my T zone throughout the day and I hate looking shiny. I only want to shimmer in the places I put highlight! I’ve found that once I set it with powder, it lasts all day and I don’t have to worry about blotting my face or doing any touchups before heading out to dinner.

5. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

I usually purchase this concealer in the second lightest shade. Normally I click the tube enough that I can squeeze the tip to get the product out of the sponge so that I may apply it with a beauty blender. Unfortunately, I’m prone to dark under eye circles. Probably due to allergies. BUT – This concealer definitely does what it says. I doesn’t settle into fine lines and it covers my eye bags effortlessly. I get the second lightest shade to brighten under my eyes and I love it!

6. Wet and Wild Megaglo Highlighter

Because who doesn’t love a good highlight? And even better one that only costs you $5. My only complaint is that my target doesn’t carry a lot of Wet and Wild products so I have to go to CVS or Walgreens to get it but its so worth it!

7. Batiste Dry Shampoo

This is my favorite dry shampoo. If you’re like me and have dark roots I’d recommend the Batiste for Brunettes. My sisters that are blonde use the one for blondes one and love it also! I usually wash my hair every day. I cant go a day without or you might as well call me grease lightning. I use this dry shampoo on days I have to leave quickly and I don’t have to time to shower. Most dry shampoos I’ve tried make your hair feel worse. I hate having gross hair. Batiste doesn’t have an overwhelming smell and it doesn’t make your hair feel stiff. Its the best I’ve tried and a something I always have on hand!

8. Elf liquid Eye Liner

This eyeliner is $2 and works great. I sometimes switch between this one and the NYX Liquid Eye liner. Both are great but you can’t beat the $2 price tag on Elf Cosmetics.

9. L’oreal Revitalift Eye Cream

This eye cream works better than a lot of higher end ones that I’ve tried. I recently purchased a very tiny tube that cost me $40 at Sephora and haven’t seen any results. The L’Oreal eye cream is under $15 and has saved me on mornings where I didn’t get enough sleep. I’ve put some one and noticed a small difference within an hour.

10. Real Techniques – Brushes and Beauty Blenders

Several Months ago I purchased a variety back of brushes and I’ve been really pleased. I hate cleaning my brushes and I grabbed this pack to have a few extra eye makeup brushes so I could wait a longer stretch before running out of brushes. I love them. I’ve repurchased the beauty blenders several times and I plan to continue doing so!

All of these products are items that I keep on hand! I swear by them and would 100% recommend them!
